How are our recycled PET lanyards made?
Most of our lanyards are made from recycled plastic bottles. Production takes place in 7 stages:
- Collection of bottles at waste sorting plants or sorted collection points
- Sorting and bundling for easy storage and transport
- Cleaning of bottles to remove dirt, labels and contaminants
- Crushing into flakes and re-washing to remove contaminants
- Extrusion: flakes are melted into liquid at high temperatures and extruded into yarn
- Weaving: polyester yarns are spun together to form ribbons of cord
- Printing and sewing the cording
